Seventy YLC alumni and fall class participants, along with nonprofit executive directors and staff, attended the 2019 YLC Impact Luncheon presented by PNC Bank on August 28 to learn about “Collective Impact: A Collaborative Approach to Creating Change” at United Way of Metropolitan Nashville. Thanks to Samantha Wigand of Center for Nonprofit Management, Corinne Bergeron of The Frist Foundation, and Rebecca Carter of United Way of Metropolitan Nashville for sharing how nonprofits, corporate and government agencies can work together towards a common goal and how they support those projects that utilize a collective impact approach to major community challenges. And thanks to PNC Bank for sponsoring the event, Brian Hassett of United Way of Metropolitan Nashville for sharing his inspiring story and hosting our event, and YLC events chair Ann Taylor Holley, CFA (Class 64) for putting together this great event. The Heritage Foundation of Williamson County preserves the communities and cultural heritage of Williamson County by working with area leaders to continually care for historic spaces, treasured landmarks, and cherished local businesses. The 46th annual Heritage Ball, the longest running black-tie affair in Williamson County, has added a Late Party for young professionals between the ages of 21 and 40 on Saturday, October 5 at Eastern Flank Battlefield Park in Franklin with presenting sponsor Estee Lauder. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and open bar at 8pm and dancing from 9:30pm until midnight. All Late Party guests will be able to join Heritage Ball guests for a performance by Kix Brooks. Why not celebrate our furry friends the WHOLE week with The BE-Hive End of Summer Cookout this Saturday, benefiting our friends at Nashville Humane Association? Not only will there be be food and drinks from The BE-Hive, Succulent Vegan Tacos, Radical Rabbit, Five Points Pizza, Rose Gold Bakery, Absolut Juice and Bearded Iris Brewing, there will be music by KDSML and ORIG the DJ, a Dunk Tank, merchandise from Hail, Dark Aesthetics and best of all…adoptable puppy dogs! Admission is free with each vendor donating a percentage of proceeds to Nashville Humane Association, which is committed to finding responsible homes, controlling pet overpopulation and promoting the humane treatment of animals. Nissan of Cool Springs presents GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville’s 7th Annual Golf Tournament on August 26. A little “birdie” told us there were still a few slots available so register online today at the link below. The event kicks off at 10am with registration, followed by lunch at 11am and a 12pm shotgun start. GiGi’s Playhouse was created to change the way the world views a Down syndrome diagnosis and send a global message of acceptance for all. Serving children and adults of all ages, Playhouses across the country offer 30 educational and therapeutic programs at no charge to families. All programs aim to maximize self-confidence and empower individuals to achieve their greatest potential.

The Hustle for the House 5k and Kathy Dungan 1-Mile Fun Run helps keep families close during a critical time in their lives. The 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 7:30am; 5k begins at 8am. Both races start and end at the Nashville Ronald McDonald House in Hillsboro Village. All pre-registered participants are guaranteed a t-shirt; free Hunt Brothers breakfast pizza, Bavarian Bierhause salted pretzels and traditional race fare available before and after the race. 5K Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in the Overall, Masters, and Grand Masters categories and the top 3 finishers in each age. 1-Mile Fun Run Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers, 14 and under in the Overall, and in separate age categories.
