They are Young Leaders of the Year from 1994-2018. Nominations are being accepted for 2019 Young Leader of the Year, an alumnus who has made a substantial impact in the Middle Tennessee nonprofit community and stayed involved with YLC since their graduation. Nominations are due by Oct. 15. Winner will be announced at Nov. 8 luncheon.

Nominations are being accepted now for 2020 YLC board members for the term beginning in January. The Young Leaders Council Board of Directors consists of 18 members who serve a minimum term of three (3) years (2-term maximum). YLC board members serve the organization by fulfilling the mission of the organization throughout Middle Tennessee. While all professions are considered valuable, special consideration is given to those professions that match both the immediate and long-term needs of YLC. Alumni in good standing with the organization are eligible to serve on the YLC board. Any interested person may nominate him/herself or a fellow YLC alumnus by Oct. 15. Please also include you resume. The YLC Nomination Committee may request additional information as needed.

Want to support youth development AND cancer research? Then nominate a student TODAY for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year campaign! Students of the Year is a philanthropic leadership development program for Middle Tennessee high school students. Participants learn marketable job skills, earn community service hours, raise funds for cancer cures and patient services, and have a chance to win a college scholarship. They’re all YLC alumnae who were Nashville Business Journal‘s Women of Influence winners from the past three years, in addition to YLC executive director Lisa Shacklett, who was honored in 2014. Nominations for the 2020 Women of Influence Awards are now open. NBJ is looking for the top executives, trailblazers and inspirational leaders who are forging new paths for the next generation of women in Nashville. Self-nominations are welcome. Winners will be honored at a celebration luncheon and featured in a special print publication and on NBJ’s website next spring. Celebrate the achievements of Middle Tennessee’s leading women in business and the community by nominating a deserving woman (especially a YLC alumna!) by Nov. 10.

Thanks to current YLC Class 73 participant Meredith Taylor for sharing this inspirational volunteer event with YLC. Join cityCURRENT’s Samaritan’s Feet shoe distribution in partnership with Nashville Inner City Ministry on Friday, November 8, to bring a message of hope, love and compassion along with a new pair of shoes and socks to hundreds of children who are in need. cityCURRENT is looking for volunteers for event prep, registration, greeting, foot washing, event logistics, handing out snacks, playing games with kids and more. Register for any window of time between 8:00-11:30 AM. Some activities are available for volunteers under 18 so bring your family and friends to make a difference in the lives of a child and give back to your community.
